Service Description

Certified Operational Play Inspection Training (Level 2) Operational Inspection - 2 day training process including a classroom presentation training and playground site visits with a practical and formal exam. The training consists of a comprehensive overview of the playground industry including general safety, accidents, inspection procedure, basic risk assessment and some basic standards /compliance dimensions to NZS:5828 / EN:1176. A inspection template and Standards Guide (hardcopy) is also included. The training consists of play safety, accident statistics, inspection procedure, play area hazard identification and risk assessment processes including basic dimensional compliance considering NZS:5828 / EN:1176 playground standards. The course is designed to train you as a competent operational inspector of the play area’s general safety, wear & tear ongoing condition whilst giving you a broad and comprehensive overview and understanding of the entire playground industry. (No previous experience necessary). The training and exam process provides a qualification and registration for Operational (Level 2) with the RPII & ROPSA Register of Playground Inspectors International. You will receive a certificate and ID badge valid for 3 years. Topics covered: • Children at Play • Accidents and safety • Playground standards • Inspection procedures • Risk assessment • Specific equipment inspection • Fallzones, Falling Spaces • Basic Compliance Dimensions • Entrapment Overview • Maintenance & Parts • IAS / HIC Safety Surfacing. Qualification: The level 2 training and exam process provides a qualification and registration for Operational (Level 2) with the RPII & ROPSA Register of Playground Inspectors International. You will receive a certificate and ID badge valid for 3 years. Who is the training for? Council Parks Staff, Parks & Reserves Coordinators, Facilities Maintenance Staff, Maintenance Contractors, Early Childhood Centre Reps, Landscapers / Builders, Landscape Architects, Equipment Manufacturers, Auditors / Inspectors, Safety Surfacing Suppliers. Previous Knowledge For the initial training no previous playground knowledge or experience is necessary - Whether you have been in working in playgrounds for many years or brand new to the industry, this training is for you! The workshop is designed to give you a background on the industry, play safety and teach to a formal inspection process of hazard identification as well as basic compliance requirements.
